Adaptive Sports

The goal of the Mad River Valley Recreation District is to make outdoor recreation accessible to all residents regardless of age, ability or circumstances.

To that end we support trails and organizations that foster beginner programs, help seniors get outside  and programs like Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports, an organization committed to empowering individuals with disabilities to promote independence and equality through access and instruction to sports and recreational activities.

MRVRD donated to the new facility at Sugarbush’s Mt. Ellen to expand accessibility in the Mad River Valley. That $2.7 million project includes three floors for adaptive sports programming, retreats, veterans’ programs, workshops, and wellness seminars. The adaptive sports facility opened in December 2021 and is now a vibrant, busy hub for year-round adaptive sports. To learn more, visit www.vermontadaptive.org
