What is the Grant Program?

  • About the Grant Program

A big part of the Mad River Valley Recreation District’s work is to manage an annual grant program that supports local organizations or initiatives that provide recreational opportunities to the Mad River Valley community. In any given year Mad River Valley Recreation District gets requests for roughly twice the amount of funding available and gives away a total of $40,000 - 50,000 to approximately 10 - 15 recreation groups. For additional questions, visit our Frequently Asked Questions document to help you shape your request.

  • Grant Program Process

Applications for grant funding are due on November 1 and decisions are announced in late December. Applicants are sometimes invited to a Board Meeting to answer questions the board may have or to provide additional information. In rare situations, when there is available funding the MRVRD Board will consider grant requests that come in off-cycle (meaning after November 1). Please plan accordingly, knowing that the chances of getting funded are very limited if your application is submitted after November 1.

Past Projects Funded

Every year, the Mad River Valley Recreation District has the privilege of reviewing grant applications and awarding funds to help the local organizations that make recreation happen in the Valley.
